How do I order the uniforms when registering through the Individual registrations (waitlist)?

If the waitlist application is successful, the participant will be assigned to a team.

A preselected uniform will have already been chosen for them. If sizing is unsuitable, the participant may be able to swap with another child on the day of the event. Children should bring spare shorts if the preselected ones do not fit.

Can you play up or down a division in the Junior Murri Carnival?

Junior Murri Carnival is a QRL sanctioned event. Players are only eligible for their correct age division.

Do I have to provide a 715 Health Check?

To participate in the Deadly Choices Junior Murri Carnival, all players must upload a completed 715 Health Check form before the event. Please refer to your registration pack for the form and link details.

https://deadlychoices.com.au/news-events/715-health-check-upload-form/

Please note: ‘Proof of Booking’ will no longer be accepted by the Deadly Choices team instead of a 715 Health Check. All players must have completed a 715 Health Check within the 12 months before the event day to compete.

Can non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons participate?

All players must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and provide a 715 Health Check form.

Can I request a specific team for my child?

While we welcome your preferences and will consider them, we can’t guarantee placement in a specific team when you complete the individual waitlist form. The Junior Murri Carnival is designed to be a safe and inclusive environment where participants can build new friendships, develop and learn new skills.

Who coaches the individual registration (waitlist) teams?

For team registrations, each registered team must provide their own coaching staff.

For individual registrations, Deadly Choices Program Officers will support as coaching staff for Deadly Choices teams.

All coaches must be registered through MySideline before participating.

There is limited public transport; however, we suggest planning and checking TransLink for train or bus services in the area.

You can get your 715 Health Check at your local Aboriginal Medical Service or GP. Please ensure they complete our health check completion form and submit it as part of your registration.

Do people need to have their health checks at specific clinics?

You can get your 715 Health Check at any clinic. It does not need to be a Deadly Choices participating clinic.

Can I purchase food at the venue?

Food and drink items will be available for purchase from food vendors at the carnival, in accordance with the Deadly Choices catering guidelines, including sugar-free drinks.

As the Deadly Choices Junior Murri Carnival and Queensland Murri Carnival are smoke, vape, alcohol and sugar-free events, security checks upon entry will be conducted.

All participants will receive a lunch pass for 1 food item and 1 drink for each day supplied by Deadly Choices. If your pass is lost, unfortunately this cannot be replaced.

Where are the spectator zones?

For safety, the spectating zones are the parameter behind the fencing around fields 1 to 5. These areas run along the outside of the fields, which helps keep everyone safe during play. To avoid congestion, please stay behind the field fencing and do not stand on pathways or near field entrances.

The site map will be available around the same time as the draw release.

What’s the difference between a manager and a coach?

A coach is responsible for leading the team on the field, including training, game strategy and player development.

A manager supports the team off the field. This may include communicating with families, organising team information, assisting with game day requirements, and supporting admin.

To keep responsibilities clear, one person cannot be both the manager and coach for the same team

A person also cannot be both the coach and LeagueSafe for the same team.

A person can be both the manager and LeagueSafe.

Do I need a Trainer?

Yes. Each team must have their own registered Trainer/LeagueSafe.

Your team’s Trainer/LeagueSafe can register at any time through MySideline. Trainers are not supplied. Each team is responsible for organising and registering their own.

Does my team need a ball boy?

No.

Do I need to pay to play?

There is no cost involved in the 2026 Deadly Choices Junior Murri Carnival.

What accessibility features are available?

If you require more information, contact the Deadly Choices Events Team at [email protected]
