The Deadly Choices FNQ Mixed Touch Carnival celebrates health, and community spirit through sport. This event brings Mob from across Far North Queensland together to compete, connect and promote healthy lifestyle choices. The Carnival encourages teamwork, respect, and deadly competition in a supportive environment across junior and Open divisions.

Participation Eligibility

The competition is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples aged 12 years and older.

To participate, all players must have a current 715 Health Check.

Divisions & Costs

Under 14s Mixed (age 12-14) – Free
Opens Mixed (age 15+) – $200

The fee is charged per team and is non-refundable.

All players must register under the correct age division as pool games may clash within age divisions i.e. U14s may play at the same time as Opens Mixed Divisions.

Team Numbers 

Maximum 12 players per team, 6 players on field at a time.  

All teams must always have a minimum of 3 female players on field.

Team lists must be submitted by Friday, 16 October. 

Team Apparel Orders

Each team will be provided with a playing kit consisting of 12 singlets OR shirts + shorts (one complete set per player).

Team managers will be responsible for submitting their team’s apparel order by Friday, 4 September.

Teams that miss the deadline will be provided with playing kits in standard sizes only.

Team uniforms are supplied by Struddys. Upon registration, a uniform ordering link will be emailed directly from Struddys to the team manager.

Games Structure

Standard mixed touch football rules apply. Qualified referees will officiate all games.

Fixtures will be shared prior to the event.

Draw Release

Deadly Choices Events Team will conduct the official draw for the DC FNQ Mixed Touch Carnival.
Teams will receive the draw on the week of the event.

Meals

All players will receive a free lunch voucher.

Food and drinks can also be purchased from vendors at the venue. In line with Deadly Choices healthy food guidelines, vendors will not sell meals or drinks containing added sugar or alcohol.

You’re welcome to bring your own healthy snacks or meals, but please ensure they contain no added sugar.

Water stations will be available throughout the day.

To support a safe and healthy environment, all Deadly Choices events are smoke, vape, alcohol, drug and sugar free.

Weather

The event will proceed as planned unless conditions are deemed unsafe (such as severe heat or thunderstorms).

If a weather event impacts the game schedule, team managers will be notified by email.

Players will need to bring their own football boots, as these are not included in the provided playing kit.

Additionally, feel free to bring a marquee if you have one. Please make sure it is securely weighted at all times!

715 Health Checks

All players must have an up-to-date 715 Health Check.

No 715 Health Check = No Play 

If you have had your 715 Health Check between October 2025 and today, you are good to go.
Due for a check? Find your nearest clinic here and complete your 715 Health Check by Friday, 16 October 2026 to be eligible to play.

Please note: we will no longer accept ‘Proof of Booking’.
