Sydney Roosters Partner with Deadly Choices to Promote Indigenous Health and Culture

The Sydney Roosters are proud to announce a meaningful new partnership with Deadly Choices, a preventative health initiative of the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd (IUIH), focused on empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to make positive lifestyle choices and prioritise their wellbeing.

At the heart of the campaign is the promotion of the 715 Health Check, a comprehensive health assessment available through Community Controlled Health Services (CCHSs) across Australia. As part of the partnership, community members who complete their 715 Health Check at a participating CCHS will receive an exclusive Deadly Choices Roosters jersey, inspired by the Club’s 2025 Indigenous Round designs.

This year’s NRL Indigenous Jersey, created by Casey Armfield-Stevens, pays tribute to her uncle and Rooster #637, Kevin ‘Stumpy’ Stevens, a proud Gumbaynggirr man and a key figure in the Roosters’ dominant 1970s era. The jersey honours themes of family, home and connection, with six symbolic stars representing Kevin’s immediate family, and design elements reflecting his bond with his brother and teammate, Terry Stevens.

The NRLW Indigenous Jersey, designed by Tylah Mundine, a proud Bundjalung Woman, and marks a historic first for the Roosters Women’s team. It honours the past, present and future of Indigenous women playing at the Sydney Roosters, celebrating trailblazers like Olivia Kernick, reconnecting with 15 of the Club’s original Indigenous NRLW players, and weaving in imagery of roots and flora to symbolise legacy, culture and growth.

Roosters CEO Joe Kelly said: “We’re honoured to partner with Deadly Choices in delivering a message that extends far beyond the football field. Health, family and culture are at the core of our Club, and this partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to making a genuine impact in community.”

Deadly Choices Partnerships Manager Nathan Appo added: “By combining the influence of rugby league with the importance of preventative health, we’re able to reach our Mob in powerful ways. The Roosters have a strong history of Indigenous representation, and this jersey makes that connection even stronger.”

The partnership saw players wearing Deadly Choices Health Check shirts during 2025 Indigenous round, with jerseys available at participating CCHSs for those completing their 715 Health Check.

Together, the Sydney Roosters and Deadly Choices are proud to stand alongside communities in promoting health, connection, and cultural pride.

This deadly partnership is the only way to get your hand on the Sydney Roosters first ever NRLW Indigenous design.

The Sydney Roosters x Deadly Choices 715 Health Check shirts (NRL and NRLW) are available now at participating CCHS nationwide.
