Join us for the 2025 Junior Murri Carnival, back at the Albany Creek Crushers over 3 days.

You can enter a team or individual participant.

EVENT DETAILS:

This years carnival will run over 3 days for U10s and U12s and 2 days for U6s and U8s. 

Dates:

Sunday 21st September (U10s & U12s ONLY)
Monday 22nd September (U6s – U12s)
Tuesday 23rd September (U6s – U12s)

Can I still register my child after close date?

Please note waitlists participants are NOT guaranteed a placement/position in a team.

Only if a position becomes available will the Events Team be in contact.

Which organisations look after each of the divisions? 

Deadly Choices looks after the Junior Murri Carnival, including all participants under the age of 12 years.

Team Uniforms Ordering – Individual registrations

If the waitlist application is successful, the participant will be assigned to a team.

A preselected uniform will have already been chosen for them. If sizing does not a match due to preselection the participant may be able to swap with another child on the day. It is advised that children bring spare shorts if the preselected ones do not fit.

Can you play up or down a division in the Junior Murri Carnival?

Junior Murri Carnival is a QRL sanction event. Players are only eligible for their correct age division.

Do I have to provide a 715 Health Check or have a Booking Confirmation?

All Deadly Choices events require participants to have an up to date 715 Health Check.

Booking Confirmation of a 715 Health Check also suffices. Must contain date and time of booking.

Can non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons participate?

All players must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and provide a 715 Health Check form or Booking Confirmation (this can be a text message with the appointment booking details).

Can I request a specific team for my child?

While we welcome your preferences and will take them into consideration, we can’t guarantee placement in a specific team. The Junior Murri Carnival is designed to be a safe and inclusive environment where participants can build new friendships, develop and learn new skills.

Coaching staff details:

Individual Registrations – Deadly Choices Program Officers are coaching staff for the Deadly Choices Teams.

Team Registrations – Registered Teams are to provide their own coaching staff. Coaching staff need to be registered on MySideline.

Do parents/guardians need to be in attendance?

A parent or guardian needs to be in attendance at all times. The venue has shaded areas for spectators to sit along with sugar-free drinks and food available. Deadly Choices staff coaches are only responsible for children during warmups and game time.

What’s included in the kit?

Each participant will receive a playing uniform, including shorts, a jersey and socks.  

Participants are required to bring their own boots/runners.

When will the draw be released?

The Junior Murri Carnival draw will be released closer to the carnival. Team Manager will be notified via the Team Managers Meetings the week of the carnival. Parents can expect to have first games starting at roughly 8:30am.

Will there be any education sessions?

Each team and participant will partake in a session run by NRL.

Can I purchase food at the venue?

Food and drink items will be available for purchase from food vendors at the carnival adhering to the Deadly Choices catering guidelines including sugar-free drinks.

As the Junior Murri Carnival and Queensland Murri Carnival are smoke, vape, drug, alcohol and sugar-free events, security checks upon entry will be conducted.

All participants will receive a lunch pass for 1 food item and 1 drink for each day supplied by Deadly Choices.

How do I get to the Junior Murri Carnival? (transport/parking)

There are several carparks located within the Albany Creek Crushers complex.

There is limited public transport however, we suggest planning a head and checking TransLink for train or bus services in the area.

Where can I get a 715 Health Check? 

You can get your 715 Health Check at your local Aboriginal Medical Service or GP. Please ensure they fill out our health check completion form to submit as a part of your registration.

This is a smoke, vape, alcohol, drug and sugar free event.
