Deadly competition at the Indigenous Seniors’ Games

Competition was fierce at the Indigenous Seniors' Games event at Shorncliffe last week.

Teams from across South East Queensland competed in individual and team challenges across five games: ten pin bowling, numbers board, hole in the wall, quoits, and darts.

At the end of competition the Purga Porcupines were victorious, followed closely by the Nalingu Possums in second place and the Morayfield Stingers in third.

The Overall Individual Champion was Ernie Chong from the Kambu Kookaburras, with Les Parker from the Goodna Goannas taking out the Mobility category and Tom Kairupan the Over 70s catgegory.

Individual Games Winners were:

  • Ten Pin Bowling: Robert Graham, Kambu Kookaburras
  • Numbers Board: Catherine Thurland, Purga Porcupines
  • Hole in the Wall: Kay Long, Morayfield Stingers
  • Quoits: Harold Leedie, Gympie Gold
  • Darts: Eddie Thompson, Kambu Kookaburras
