In 2023, Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities became the focus of an initiative aimed at combating tobacco use and designed to help close the gap in health and life expectancy outcomes among Indigenous Australians.

The key directives of these campaigns, voiced by Deadly Choices Ambassador and rugby league icon, Steve Renouf, emphasise the significance of making informed, healthy choices. These choices hold immense importance not just for individuals but also for their families and wider communities.

An integral part of an extensive health awareness drive, funded by Health and Wellbeing Queensland, featured prominent figures such as Edrick Lee, Dolphins’ outside back, and his cousin, Ezra Mam, the Broncos’ five-eighth. They were prominently showcased in the inaugural installment of a multifaceted health check advertisement campaign.
