Junior Good Quick Tukka
Through the Junior Good Quick Tukka Program, facilitators endeavour to reinvigorate the appeal of healthy, nutritious foods that can easily be prepared by 8-12 year-olds.
Through the simple process of maintaining hygienically sound food handling and preparation methods, choosing more culturally compatible ingredients from the five food groups, while emphasising the overall importance of maintaining positive eating habits, we empower young people to take a leading role in the health of their families and that of the wider community.
The program has been developed to encourage young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to make healthy food choices and to support others to do the same. As a result, the program hopes to increase the number of healthy meals being prepared at home among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. By delivering programs that focus on the importance of integrating culture and leadership, we are confident that participants will be able to engage in lifelong healthy eating practices and behaviours.
