Willie’s Deadly Choice: Is to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
Willie Tonga is a proud Tongan and Wiradjuri man.
He grew up in Queensland playing rugby league as a junior for Cherbourg. At 19 years old, Willie was scouted by rugby league legend Arthur Beetson and moved to Parramatta, signing with the Eels for the 2002 season.
He went on to carve out a 181 game NRL career for Parramatta, the Bulldogs and Cowboys between 2002-2014. He played 12 Tests for Australia and represented Queensland on eight occasions. Ahead of the 2015 season, Willie flagged a move to the Super League in 2015, where he played three more seasons for Catalans, Leigh Centurions and Bradford Bulls.
As a Deadly Choices Ambassador, Willie wants to draw on his personal experiences to educate others about the importance of health, education and wellbeing.
